Currently gaining a reputation as one of the most unique up and coming voices in modern music, Megan Airlie continues to evolve through the release of her latest single ‘Mother Whale’.

‘Mother Whale’ is the third single release in a series of tracks Megan has shared with the world, quickly following on from the stunning debut ‘After River’ and ‘Honey’. In a departure from the chanteusse, soulful opening singles that were indebted to classic singers such as Billie Holiday and Nina Simone, ‘Mother Whale’ finds Megan taking an unorthodox approach, one that veers into a slightly more upbeat blues style of songwriting.

‘Mother Whale’ offers up a stripped back quality which, in turn, allows Megan’s voice the space to flourish and become the quintessential star of the show. As the song builds momentum, Megan’s jazzy qualities begin to shine through, her vocals wonderfully flanked by a stirring vocal harmony and staccato guitar.

With such a distinctive approach, it’s easy to see why Megan Airlie has been earmarked as ‘one to watch’ having picked up support from The Line of Best Fit, BBC Radio and Earmilk as well as showcasing her endearing qualities to an illustrious live audience at the renowned SAY Awards in Scotland.

‘Mother Whale’ is out now via Bloc Music Records.
