"It’s 9 o’clock, you’ve lost your friends, and your phone is dead. The mirror is telling you lies, and your adolescence is beginning to show."

Herefordshire four-piece Pentire unleash a slice of rowdy indie-rock with new their new track ‘Fading Out’: “It’s 9 o’clock, you’ve lost your friends, and your phone is dead. The mirror is telling you lies, and your adolescence is beginning to show. It’s a song that is very close to our hearts, Fading Out is an angst tale of losing control of your fragile consciousness and is a lyrical follow up to our previous release ‘Best Friend’s House’.

What was the first album you bought?

Jack – Good question. The first album I remember hearing was either Blood Sugar Sex Magik or the Stereo MCs – Connected, but the first vinyl I ever bought was 0151 by The Night Cafe.

Who are some of your biggest musical inspirations and why?

Jacob – We’ve always listed the classics at this point; The Killers, Inhaler, Stereophonics… and even to this day those three names are mentioned in our EPK. But specifically, I know Van Mccan is a huge inspiration to Jack as a frontman, and personally, I am very inspired by Thundercat

What are some non-musical inspirations that motivate your music?

Jack – I mean as cliche as it sounds, a lot of my lyrical writing for sure is about my own/other people’s personal experiences, but for sure we do take inspiration from other artforms.

Owen – Different songs come out of different places, we’ve always themed our branding around our love for the environment and the world around us, and we plan to head off over the summer and write our EP on Pentire Headland in Cornwall itself which feels fitting. It’s amazing how much the world around us inspires us.

Tell us about your single ‘Fading Out’?

Fading Out is our brand new single and it’s about losing control of your fragile consciousness. It’s a lyrical follow-up from our previous song, Best Friend’s House, and is written about the same party, only slightly later on into the night, revealing what was to come.

What have you got lined up for 2022?

We’ve got some very exciting things in the pipeline which we’re not allowed to talk about just yet but stay tuned for all of that on our socials. We are planning for a potential headline tour at the end of the year and hopefully an EP in early 2023, it’s a very badly kept secret so feel free to tell your friends!
