FM Premiere | Luke Marshall Black’s LOSING SLEEP Video

Glaswegian singer-songwriter Luke Marshall Black talks to us and premieres the video to accompanying his passionate debut single, Losing Sleep, out now via Prospect 21.

Hi Luke! How are you today?

Hey I’m great thanks! Feeling good.

Tell us what your new single Losing Sleep is all about?

My new single is about insomnia in heartbreak.  Reflecting on the totally overwhelming impact it can have on you. Although it’s a sad song I find it really empowering to sing because it captures the sheer force of that emotion and in many ways that’s a celebration of how powerful the relationship was.

 Who are your biggest influences?

There’s a bunch that it’d be hard to narrow down but I think my music sits somewhere in between Paolo Nutini and Adele.

If you could perform anywhere in thew world, where would you go?

I would love to be able to play across Europe to get started and from there the sky’s the limit. Tokyo would be very cool.  Musics such a universal language that the place doesn’t really matter, if there’s people listening to my music, I’ll come play!

Whats the music scene like in Glasgow at the mo, any fresh new artists we should keep an eye on?

I’m based in Bristol but both cities have amazing music scenes.  In Bristol I’d recommend checking out George Glew who is a brilliant songwriter and a friend. Keir is also going to be massive and is a great artist.

You’re playing Glastonbury soon! Are you excited?

Yes I’m very excited. I’m doing a solo acoustic set which is always a bit nervewracking but I can’t wait for it.

Who else are you looking forward to seeing there?

Lauryn Hill, Janelle Monae, Michael Kiwanuka… I’ve always loved Snow Patrol too, so it’ll be great to see them again.

What are your plans for the rest of 2019?

I’ll be releasing a few singles across 2019 along with some live videos and working toward an EP. Lots of music to come.

Where can we find you online?

You can find me on Instagram and Facebook but my new single Losing Sleep. is available across all streaming platforms.
