There’s a wistfulness to Damien McFly’s latest single, ‘I Can’t Reply’, as he recounts a tale that is all too familiar.

He captures the stomach dropping feeling and the internal machinations of being so overcome with emotion, being so besotted with another person that the words dry up in your mouth and you become speechless.

Damien – the stage name for Damiano Ferrari, passionate and charismatic singer from Padova, Italy – has an accomplished lyrical flair that alone could illuminate the experience well enough, but when combined with his talent for emotive musicality, the tune becomes a euphoric whole, with sweeping guitars and and lush piano filling any space you care to play the music.

It would be remiss of us not to mention Mumford and Sons and the obvious influence they’ve had on Damien’s writing, but we’d go so far as to say that there’s a lot more honesty to his music that’s sure to win over fans of M&S and gain the Italian singer songwriter a dedicated UK following.

‘I Can’t Reply’ is out now via Ferrari Records.
