Stockholm-based up-and-coming singer, songwriter Nano, shares an emotional autobiographical video, for his second single ‘Perfect Melody’. The track is the perfect follow up to his debut single ‘Lion’, which racked up over a million plays on Spotify only a couple of months ago.
‘Perfect Melody’ is about Nano’s childhood after behavioural difficulties led to being placed into foster care. At 12 years old he had already lived in 4 different foster homes, but the turning point came when he went to live with a foster family on the island Gotland outside of Sweden. This was where his relationship with music began after his mother visited him for the first time and came bearing a gift…
Can you talk about your new single ‘Perfect Melody’? And the video for the track?
This is a song I made the melodies for ten years ago. Then it came back to me in a writing session. It means a lot to me this song, and the video makes me happy. The video describes when I was a young boy and loved music, and how it helped me with the difficulties in life. The music made me feel alive.
In 5 words can you tell us something we should know about Nano?
Goal-oriented, loyal, honest, loving, emotional.
Were you surprised with the success you had with your debut single ‘Lion’ (1 million plays on Spotify)
It feels really good, I hope more will discover the song.
Where do you usually gather songwriting inspiration?
From everyday life and the life I lived.
Who has helped you the most get to where you are today?
Myself. And of course all people around me who believe in me and push me.What kind of music do you listen to these days?
I rarely listen to music to be honest, I work with music all day and don’t want other music to disturb my creative process. But when I do listen to music, I listen to Bob Marley, Adele, Bruno Mars, The Weekend etc.
If you weren’t a musician, what would you be and why?
I would have worked with young people, charity – worked to make a change. I know what I missed when I was young, I would like to contribute.
If you could collaborate with anyone, who would it be?
Adele. She has a unique voice and a special feeling about her. She sings with her heart.
What do you have planned next?
Keep writing music with my heart and play my music for an audience.
