RÓISÍN MURPHY UNVEILS ‘EVIL EYES’ VIDEO: ‘A MYSTERIOUS AND DISORIENTATING EXPERIENCE’

Taken from her magistral return-album ‘Hairless Toys’, Róisín Murphy shares this stylishly shining & bizarre video for, the smart and Chic-esque modern tune called ‘Evil Eyes’, released via Play It Again Sam on July 31st.

Speaking about the self-directed video, Róisín says: “This character I have created goes mad. Of course female hysteria is a cinematic cliche of massive proportions and I was able to find multitudes of reference particularly in Scandinavian films. Nothing about the visual aesthetic is ‘Rock and Roll’ and yet there is plenty of rebellion going on. I find it interesting to create videos that don’t try to look like pop videos at all. Hopefully this will be a mysterious and disorientating experience for the viewer as we are not dealing in anything too concrete here, just ambiguity laced with black humour.” Róisín Murphy15She adds: “I happened upon this “job” quite by chance and I have always thought it was because of my wayward creativity it happened at all…So I’ll always put the madness first, the open-ness, because that’s how it all started.”
