The young, denim aficionados, heavily 90’s influenced, pop duo Lowla – the brainchild of producer Lo and creative stylist Lara – talk ‘Reckless’, the catchy and repetitive chorus that will remain in your consciousness for days on end….’Reckless’ is the refreshing opening track of OMC2 | ONE MORE COMPILATION VOL. 2, out now via OML.
What were your influences and vibes whilst writing it?
We are heavily influenced by the world around us, the themes in this song of revolution and change are very close to our hearts and something we feel passionate about. ‘Walls’ encourages people to get up and take a stand!
How did you form?
We got together when Lo recorded Lara’s voice for another producer and loved what she heard! With that and a mutual love for denim was how ‘LOWLA’ was born.
Where do you usually gather songwriting inspiration?
So many things! From 90’s pop culture to art, fashion and history. The changing and turbulent world around us has really fueled this EP. What is your usual songwriting process?
Songwriting is our favorite! We are very collaborative and both come with ideas or parts of songs or lyrics and build it together from there. Lo produces the tracks and has a studio at her place. We have long writing sessions and spend a lot of time on lyrics/melodies and working with our contrasting vocal ranges. We are always so excited to create new material!.
If you could collaborate with anyone, who would it be?
Probably some of our 90’s heros, artists like Michael Jackson, The Fugees, TLC, Wu Tang, Jurassic 5, The Spice Girls to name but a few.
Are you planning any live shows and what will they be like?
We have lots in the pipeline and are always looking for great opportunities. Our live shows will be full of fun and head to toe in denim as usual!
