Denim Snakes are four welsh lads who make one hell of a noise, so it was with some surprise that their latest single ‘Stronger’ starts off as a pretty bog standard ballad. Until the chorus kicks in and we realised this isn’t just a ballad – this is a ROCK ballad. We’re also pretty sure that the band name is a double entendre for penis.
Front man Russell Toomey’s voice starts off as a gentle caress, mourning the departure of what we assume was a girlfriend. Like an unwatched pot (or a tortured simile), the emotion soon spills over and catches fire, creating an explosive chorus that’s all resonant power chords, strings and epic drums.
We think our hair grew 3 inches while listening to this track, and a bandana mysteriously tied itself around our foreheads – not that we noticed, we were too busy rocking out to the feels.
If you’re in need of cheering up for whatever reason, then get this on your music player of choice, turn it up loud and get ready for some rock, classic style.
‘Stronger’ is out now via NOTV Records.
