Ded Rabbit are band of four brothers – Eugene, Donal, Eoin and Fergus Gaine – who have created a classic indie sound overflowing with energy and infectious melodies you will be humming along to for days. Their latest EP ‘Moving In Slow Motion’ is a corker of a release and puts Ded Rabbit well and truly on the indie music map.
Opening track and single ‘Scarlet Cardigan’ explodes into your ears with its fast paced rhythmic beat and lead singer Eugene Gaine’s undeniably British vocal taking centre stage and reminding you of what indie-pop music should be sounding like.
‘100 Degrees’ follows down a similar path to ‘Scarlet Cardigan’; full of upbeat energy and that classic Northern twang once again. Although less than two minutes long, ‘100 Degrees’ is force to be reckoned with; full of catchy hooks and pounding drum beats.
The final two tracks on the EP ‘Step On Your Shoes’ and ‘Moving Slow Motion’ are more of the same infectious melodies and sharp, punchy lyrics from the Edinburgh-based four piece. ‘Moving in Slow Motion’ even has some extremely catchy ‘oooh’s’ dropped in that you will find hard not sing along with. I dare you.
Fans of early days The Strokes and The Cribs will not be disappointed with this record either. ‘Moving In Slow Motion’ is welcome return to that good old fashioned British indie sound we all know and love. Bravo boys.
‘Moving In Slow Motion’ is out on NOW via Ded Rabbit Records.
