RDGLDGRN Q&A: ‘WE MAKE OUR MUSIC LIKE HIPHOP PRODUCERS BUT PLAY OUR SHOWS LIKE A BAND’

Washington, DC dynamic trio RDGLDGRN, consists of guitarist ‘Red’, bassist ‘Gold’ and singer ‘Green’. Their latest offering ‘Runaway’, is a flawlessly produced, utterly fascinating intermix of Rock/Punk /Hip Hop, about the concept of escapism and the sense of freedom.

In 2013 musical genius Pharrell Williams co-produced and wrote their strong track ‘Doing The Most,’ coupled with added drums from rock superstar Dave Grohl, who gave his majestic drum paradise also throughout their entire impressive self titled EP.

First up can you reveal 5 things we should know about RDGLDGRN?

-The name is pronounced RED GOLD GREEN
-We make our music like hiphop producers but play our shows like a band
-You must see us in concert
-We love The Love Below album by Andre3000
-We talk alot about the similarities/differences in languages because we all speak at least 2 languages. RDGLDGRN4What is the idea behind your new (massive) track ‘Runnin Away’?

The idea was to convey self-anxieties In a hurried, excited, and disorganized way.

Pharrell Williams co-produced and wrote ‘Doing The Most’ and Dave Grohl added his majestic drums (also in your self titled EP)… What are your dreams and goals after that?

We want to have multiple number one hits and we also want to meet & work with Andre3000 and Sir Paul McCartney!!

How do you prepare mentally and physically for an opening spot for the Foo Fighters….?

Since that particular show was in DC, we just went out there and killed it! We were really comfortable in that situation and as soon as we started playing the first song in our set, which was Runnin Away, we felt the love & energy from everyone there. It was a beautiful thing.RDGLDGRN dave grohl1What can you learn from a musical genius like Pharrell Williams?

You can learn ALOT from a musical genius like Pharrell Williams!!! One thing he told us that really stuck was don’t second guess yourself. When having an idea, it’s better to see it through then judge it than to judge it before you see it through.

Where do you usually gather songwriting inspiration?

Songwriting inspiration comes from so many different places. Each song is different and is, therefore, treated differently. Some inspiration comes from a personal perspective while others come from a more objective perspective but there’s always a message involved.RDGLDGRN3What has been the hardest part of being in the music industry for a band like yours?

Our band name.

Who are your musical and non-musical influences?

This list could go on forever. Our Parents, our countries (Romania, Haiti, The United States) and their respective histories, Ghostface Killah, Michael Jackson, The Beatles, The World Cup, Michael Jordan, Pharrell, the Fairfax County Public School system, the internet, and so much more…

What do you have planned next?

We’re planning on releasing music, we’ve got tours lined up in the US and Germany/Austria/Switzerland, then we are coming to SHUTDOWN your country and many more after that. Hope you’re ready…
