There’s an intensity to Kapil Seshasayee’s sound that, to put it quite bluntly, boggles the mind when you consider he’s just one guy who apparently has a hell of a live show.
His latest offering, the re-release of his EP ‘Crimes’ (slightly gutted we missed it first time around), replete with new artwork, is something that needs to be enjoyed without distraction.
It’s the very antithesis of background music – there is just so much going on that you can listen to it several times and find a new thread to hold on to and follow through the four tracks.
Dirty, fuzzed up guitar provides the backbone for the EP, while Kapil’s strangely calming voice floats over the top of improvised beats and strange percussion.
You can download two of the EP tracks to have a listen for yourself (‘Host’ and ‘Whatever Was Arranged’) but, to get the full effect of Kapil’s music you really need to listen to the the EP as a whole.
We hear that there’s a brand new single planned before the end of the year, and we cannot wait to hear where Kapil’s going to take us next.
Crimes is OUT NOW via An Automaton Records on 7th August 2015.
