London UK-Indian group [The] Music Of Sound return with Shimmer, a new single that places dream-pop atmosphere around a direct message of kindness, resilience and social unity.
Released via Monochrome Motif Records, the track combines spacious electronics, piano, layered harmonies and Elena Trent’s flute with Sherin’s ethereal lead vocal.
The group brings together different generations and musical backgrounds. Sherin and Elena work alongside composer, producer and broadcaster Neil March, with the project moving between dream pop, electronic music and cinematic songwriting.

Originally formed by March for a BBC Introducing performance at Latitude Festival, [The] Music Of Sound has since shifted from avant-garde and post-classical beginnings towards a more immersive electronic sound.
Its current chapter began in 2024 after South Indian vocalist Sherin moved to the UK to pursue music and met March at London’s ICMP. She later received Arts Council England endorsement as an “exceptional talent” for a Global Talent Visa before becoming the band’s lead vocalist.
Following recent singles Tyche, Paradigm and Ebbw Vale, Shimmer keeps the production expansive while giving its message plenty of room. Sherin explains:
We wanted the song to send a clear message of hope and belief in kindness and unity over hate and division. There’s a line that says “Cowards victimise / but the brave always are kind’ which sums up how we feel.”
The band recorded the single themselves, with mastering handled by Mark L. Beazley of Trace Recordings.
After passing 150,000 streams during 2026, [The] Music Of Sound are also preparing for a UK tour in November.
Shimmer works because the production never tries to overpower the idea behind it. The electronics, flute and layered vocals create scale, but the centre remains human: a deliberately gentle record responding to division without becoming another heavy-handed protest anthem.
