The Victim Navigates Introspection and Independence on ‘Homebound’

The Victim

The Victim introduces Homebound. A self-produced sophomore release built on Americana, folk, and dark roots rock, centred on introspection, displacement, and reconciliation.

Developed as a fully independent project, the album moves through themes of escape, guilt, and return—framing “home” as a state of acceptance rather than location.

I hadn’t actually planned to make another record so soon. But the songs kept appearing — almost as if they were waiting to be heard. ‘Homebound’ came together in a space between calm and unrest, where I wasn’t trying to explain anything, but simply dared to sit with what was there. It’s probably the most honest record I’ve made, precisely because it wasn’t overthought.

Shaped around warm guitars and stripped arrangements, the record leans into restraint and emotional precision—unfolding as a slow-burn, narrative-led listen.

Released outside Spotify by design, Homebound aligns with a value-led distribution model.

For me, making music is about contributing to a better world — even if only in small ways. I can’t reconcile that with supporting a platform that also invests in the arms industry. Music should be a sanctuary, a space for empathy and humanity, and that’s why I’ve chosen to let ‘Homebound’ live outside Spotify.
