Brighton quartet The Stanford Family Band return with Feeding The Beast, a C86-leaning sunshine-pop single from their upcoming second EP Go Again, out July 17 via Krautpop Records.
The track runs on bright guitars, tight drums, tambourine lift, and a warm analogue finish. Rickenbacker jangle, power-pop movement, and a melody caught between bittersweet and wide open.
Laurence from the band explains:
‘Feeding the Beast‘ was a really fun one to write and record, I wrote it last summer and then we cut it live really soon afterwards which is a rare thing for us, we added a wall of guitars and tambourines after. I was listening to a lot of XTC and power pop stuff at the time and really wanted to capture that classic Rickenbacker jangle as so many of our favourite records have done in the past.

That live-cut foundation gives the single its snap. The production keeps the vintage palette intact without letting the song drift into museum-piece territory. Beach Boys sweetness, XTC bite, Big Star glow; all present, but filtered through a band still chasing forward motion.

Produced by Harry Hayes, who also contributes across the writing, Go Again tightens The Stanford Family Band’s world: melodic, analogue-facing, and crafted enough to dodge straight nostalgia.
Feeding The Beast lands as vintage pop with movement; warm, jangly, slightly wistful, but not stuck in the past.
