Prima Queen have released Dirty Rascal, their second new track since last year’s debut album The Prize. Produced with Oli Deakin, the single arrived via Submarine Cat Records, following a premiere on Huw Stephens’ BBC 6 Music show.
Louise Macphail and Kristin McFadden describe the song as the moment a breakup gives way to clarity:
It’s about trusting a quiet knowing that you need to let someone go and the feeling of freedom you feel after it; there’s a type of peace that comes after a breakup when you both know you have your own version of events which can both be true and co exist simultaneously because you no longer have to.
Dirty Rascal follows the spring single Crumb. The Prize reached the Top 10 of the UK Independent Albums Chart, and Prima Queen have since toured across the UK and Europe, played London’s Islington Assembly Hall and returned to the stage this summer with shows at Crystal Palace Bowl and the 100 Club.
