Vancouver band PISS draw on a 1984 interview transcript for their new single, pairing archival text with found footage and animation ahead of debut album you made me / skin on linen, out on 30 October.
The track takes its full title from the source citation: Rote Zora. ‘Resistance is Possible.’ Emma, no. 6, June 1984, pp. 39–41. Its lyrics come from the published interview, while the official video, directed by Eila Vallevand, combines found footage and animation to extend the band’s work across music and visual art.
PISS bring together punk, poetry, sound collage and performance art. Recorded with Colin Stewart at Hive Creative Labs in January 2025, their 15-track debut examines how structural, systemic and intimate violence shapes childhood and identity. Throughout the album, creating art becomes a metaphor for how experiences shape and distort our sense of self.
The band comprises Taylor Zantingh on vocals, Tyler Paterson on guitar, Gavin Moya on bass and Garreth Roberts on drums. The new single follows blocking a scene you can’t remember and time loop at hot slit.
you made me / skin on linen arrives through Sub Pop, with Paper Bag Records handling the Canadian release, on vinyl, CD and digital platforms.
Their 14 November show at London’s Moth Club is sold out, with a further London date added at Scala on 24 February 2027. The band will also play Primavera Sound Barcelona on 4 June 2027.
