With Flight, Koncept claims full creative control. Writing, producing, and recording the album entirely himself.

It’s the first fully self-built checkpoint in a career that’s stretched from Queens roots to global touring and major sync placements.

Sharpened by years on the road and disciplined writing for film and TV, Flight balances technical precision with personal infrastructure. Work ethic, elevation, resilience.

From the defiance of The Greatest Bounce Back to the composed momentum of Off The Checklist, the singles trace a deliberate upward arc. Cinematic but controlled, cohesive by intent, not trend.

Flight isn’t a victory lap — it’s a departure gate.

In this FM PRO conversation, Koncept unpacks self-production, sync discipline, creative control, and why turbulence is part of the process.

I create all of my music from experience in some way. Whether to me, or around me.

Flight feels like a checkpoint. What made now the right time for a fully self-produced album?

Over the last couple years I’ve been working a lot on my own production while traveling, and on the road. What at first was more out of the lack of being able to be in the studio constantly as usual, and to fill my creative needs, with being able to work from my laptop and a keyboard, became an obsession, and the most organic way to channel my own sound and vibration fully and as clear and present as can be. Flight is definitely the checkpoint. We just boarded…

Your work spans film and TV syncs. How did that shape the storytelling on this record?

Prior to Covid I was touring a lot and had been on the road and mainly out of the country for about 3 years straight. When that came to a halt for a little, I dove into the sync licensing world and started working with Pulse Music Group, and Silver Side Productions. I got my music placed in movies, television shows, commercials across all networks from CBS, ABC, NBC, Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, Paramount Plus, and more. Writing records for sync is a different idea process. You’re writing for a massive audience and sometimes trying to make the words/lyrics relate to many different topics at the same time. The structure and the technique, the practice and the discipline, impacted my writing on this album, and in general in a majorly positive way.

The album traces a rise from Queens to now. How intentional was that upward arc?

Coming from a family who engrained a strong work ethic in me, raised by a single mom who worked multiple jobs at a time for us to survive and to give me everything I needed, the upward arc, the constant energy to elevate all angles of life, is and has always been absolutely intentional.

The first three singles feel like chapters. How did you choose them to set the tone?

In a way they chose themselves. The Greatest Bounce Back was the very last song I made for the album. As soon as I started making the beat and writing it, I knew it was gonna lead the album.  Put It On was the next chapter – the next piece to solidify the that expression. I also had already found out this one was cleared for an NFL commercial so that helped to set the tone as well.

The third single, Under They Skin because it had a different mood than the first two that I wanted to show and express before we got into the full listen and story of the album. Letting you know that this music, my art, means everything to me, and this album was created to be timeless.

The Greatest Bounce Back leads with defiance. What sparked that mindset?

The album was just about finished, but I knew I needed one more record. I tend to produce and write at the same time. Usually if I don’t have the hook or some lines in my head by the time I’m done making the beat, I usually know that I’m not going to use it. Not that it’s not dope, it just might be used for a different artist / project. This one I went into it feeling accomplished, the album was sitting where I wanted it to, and musically, and in life in general, after some ups and downs, and a lot of personal time and growth, the words wrote themselves.

I had to have Ty Taylor close out the song to give it even more soul. This song is also the last song on the album. And as we said above, this is just the checkpoint. The trip is just getting started.

How did producing the entire album yourself change your creative choices?

I created this whole album, production, writing, recording, by myself in my own space. It’s the most “me” music that I have ever made and released yet. My choices flowed without any hesitation.

How do you balance cinematic scale with personal detail in the mix?

I create all of my music from experience in some way. Whether to me, or around me. This album specifically is the story of my start up until now, so I really tried to put myself back into those feelings of when and where I was in each step, in each song to bring the listener into the journey.

Flight feels cohesive, not trend-led. What did you consciously avoid sonically?

It’s not that I avoided something, It’s more that I just let myself create what I felt and wanted to make, and completely and freely be myself.

The title suggests an opportunity to prepare for a meeting. What part of your journey led you here?

Well, years ago I released an EP that I created with Red Bull, titled The Fuel, and as some of my fans know, I announced that it would be followed with an album, Flight, that was never released.  Some changes happened and I went on to release some other projects, toured around the world, made some other partnerships, dove into sync licensing and started making music for television and film.  As I’ve been working a lot on my own production, and really finding my sound, I felt it was time to tell my story correctly, and as the complete version. Everything in my journey led me here.

For listeners at a turning point, what do you want Flight to give them?

To let people, listeners, fans, know a few things. That with courage, passion and self belief, you can go and achieve anything that you put your mind to. No matter what cards you’re dealt. Also, a change, an upgrade, a better version of you is coming. Don’t stop working on and for it. You’re on your way.  And remember, enjoy the flight. Turbulence and all.
