Liverpool indie band Keyside close their self-titled debut album with Echoes, a deeply personal single shaped by grief, addiction and the frustration of watching someone disappear.

Released through Modern Sky, the track arrives ahead of the album on August 7, alongside news of the band’s biggest headline tour to date.

Built around luminous guitar lines, reverb-heavy production and a restrained rhythm section, Echoes expands Keyside’s indie sound without losing the intimacy at its centre. The repeated refrain, “Can you hear me in the echoes?”, carries the song from private memory into something wider and harder to shake. frontman Dani-Lee Parker explains:

Echoes is inspired by the real experience of losing my uncle. It’s a reflection of the frustration of having to watch someone deteriorate and have their life taken. Moments like this cause me to reflect on my own life and of others around me, thoughts which unfold in the song.

Recorded at Liverpool’s Kempston Street Studios with producer Chris Taylor, the album also includes previous singles Nikita, Michael (What’s Your Call?), Runaway, Lemon And Lime and Cocodamol.

The band will begin its new headline run in November, joined by Strata, before closing the year with a 2,300-capacity homecoming show at Liverpool’s Mountford Hall on December 12.

Echoes does not package grief as an easy breakthrough. It leaves the loss unresolved, using space, repetition and atmosphere to show how absence can keep making noise long after someone is gone.
