Isabel van Gelder Reclaims the Narrative on ‘Kissing You Away’

Amsterdam-based singer-songwriter Isabel van Gelder transforms romantic fallout into something lighter, sharper and more self-directed on Kissing You Away, the latest preview of her forthcoming EP, Lovesick.

The track follows I Don’t Want To Fall In Love Again and Complicated, continuing a run of songs that examine the messier spaces between attachment, disappointment and moving forward.

Kissing You Away begins almost inside the recording session: approaching footsteps, a quiet sigh and a simple OK. That deliberately exposed opening gives the track an immediate sense of intimacy before Isabel starts again with the line, Let me take it from the start.

Her story is less about finding somebody new than briefly escaping somebody she still loves. Tired of lonely nights and broken promises, she heads out without looking for “a lover or a friend.” The lyric “Have a taste then chase it with a glass of cheap rosé” captures the song’s playful edge, while “At least he’s got no empty promises to make” delivers its most pointed swipe.

Vinyl crackle, airy backing vocals and warm rhythms balance nostalgia with control, while Isabel’s assured delivery keeps the heartbreak from taking over.

That balance sits at the centre of Lovesick, arriving on October 16, 2026. Across seven tracks, the EP moves through longing, rejection, escapism, emotional distance and release, placing introspective ballads alongside more playful writing.

Following the 20-million-stream success of Minor Details, Kissing You Away finds Isabel turning emotional contradiction into confident pop.
