It’s exactly three months now after adopting Kenya, and I am one proud dog parent. He is more active than he once was and loves being around new people. It hasn’t been smooth sailing for us and our story was quite bumpy from the beginning.

The Love Story

I had just moved to a new city and it was quite lonely since I didn’t know anybody and consider myself an introvert. After much persuasion over the phone from my fiancé, I decided to find myself a new friend. With a quick Google search, I was able to find the nearest suitable animal shelter.

The next morning I headed to the shelter. There were so many dogs in need of a home, but this one particular large Pitbull made my heart melt. We locked eyes for a few seconds and without any hesitation. I knew we were meant to be. His name, Kenya.

New Home, New Life

As a new pet owner, I thought Kenya would adapt to his new environment quickly. He would whine and bark all day, especially when I had to leave for work early in the morning. He didn’t want to be left alone and it was a whole rigamarole every morning trying to calm him down.

This went on for a few weeks, and it persuaded me to book an appointment with a local pet psychologist. On arrival at the veterinary clinic, he wouldn’t anyone touch him and growled whenever he heard footsteps. After the consultation, we immediately began sessions with the psychologist with the hopes of helping Kenya to become the happy and carefree dog he was meant to be. A big part of Kenya’s treatment was the use of CBD oil for dogs.

CBD oil for dogs is most effective when taken with a meal. To start with, you can give CBD to your dog at breakfast time each day. After a few days, add another dose with his dinner. If you are giving your dog CBD to help with anxiety associated with specific events, a daily dose may not be necessary.

CBD oil for dogs is safe, non psychoactive and won’t get them high. It works for dogs like it works for humans because we share similar endocannabinoid systems (ECS) that control and manage various body functions.

Benefits of CBD oil for dogs are similar to those for humans and include:

  • Improved sleep
  • Help with joint pain and inflammation
  • Treatment of stress and anxiety
  • Reduction of seizures
  • Managing aggravation
  • Boosted appetite
  • Improved immunity

To New Beginnings

With each session and the much-needed help of CBD oil for dogs, Kenya is more relaxed, less nervous and his separation anxiety has calmed down. He once hated the long rides to the vet but lately, he looks forward to the trips. I highly recommend anyone with animals to give natural high-quality CBD oil for dogs a try.

(Consider getting your dog checked for physical ailments and discussing CBD use with your veterinarian before trying it, especially if your dog takes other medication. Choose a high quality organic CBD oil and be sure to follow dosage recommendations on the products, starting with the minimum recommended amount, and monitor your pet’s reaction, gradually increasing the dose as needed.)
