Dutch composer, guitarist and producer Guy Renardeau brings seven distinct musical perspectives into a shared sonic framework on The Blues Guy & The SHADES OF BLUE: Colours in Your Mind.
Recorded primarily at Apollo Recording & Film Studio, the 26-minute album blends blues with rock, jazz, soul, R&B, ambient and cinematic elements.
Renardeau composed and performed its instrumental foundations, giving each collaborator space to establish a distinct identity.
Glenda Benevides explores vulnerability and desire on Addicted to the Pain and closing track Love on My Mind, while Class Vee brings contemporary pop and R&B energy to Nonsense and Beautiful Words.
Polish musician Łukasz “Wiśnia” Wiśniewski takes the lead on Harmonica Blues, Melody McArthur contributes the lyrics to Heartache’s on Me, and Dutch-Indonesian soulwriter KIA Knoester channels ambition and self-expression through Watch Me Work.
Renardeau produced and engineered the album, with Robert McGilpin handling mixing and mastering. Gene Williams provided vocal engineering, while Class Vee’s vocals were recorded by Eric Maldonado at Paris Recording Studios.
By maintaining one instrumental and production framework beneath an international cast, Colours in Your Mind makes collaboration part of the album’s architecture—not simply a collection of guest appearances.
The result expands the blues without disconnecting it from the pain, resilience and human tension that continue to give the genre its weight.
