BRYANT KEITH has released IMPATIENT, a self-written and self-produced R&B single from his forthcoming EP, THE LOVE PACT, due later this year.
The Houston-based artist recorded the track in his home studio using an AKAI MPK keyboard, drum chops and soul samples. Its early-2000s R&B textures give shape to a song about wanting to hold on to love after patience has run out.
KEITH said:
IMPATIENT is about embodied desperation, beautiful madness and unquestionable yearning. I wanted to make a track that really explores what a mind will do when it has reached its breaking point.
Born in Indianapolis, Keith is also a psychologist. He calls his approach “psychological R&B”, using songwriting to examine emotional and spiritual experience. On IMPATIENT, that perspective comes through in the production as much as the lyrics: the tension stays close, even as the sound opens up.
