South African singer-songwriter Karabo brings electronic R&B production to his Afro-Soul foundations on Only 4 U, a single centred on vulnerability and commitment.
Karabo wrote and recorded the track with Tinashe and Tineke. It grew from a batch of Tinashe’s beats, with Tineke leading the writing and cutting a guide vocal while Karabo added to the theme as it developed.
Digital drums, keys, strings and bass shape its TrapSoul sound, placing Karabo’s songwriting within a contemporary R&B setting.

The single follows his third studio album, Songs About You, which explores love, memory and interpersonal connection. Its tracks include Ngak’thandazela, inspired by the prayer Karabo made for the woman who became his wife, and Safe, featuring Tineke. KLY and Touchline add to the record.
Karabo won Idols South Africa Season 11 and has since shared stages with Anthony Hamilton and worked with Bebe Winans. Now independent, he’s targeting international audiences, with Only 4 U out via Virgin Music Group.
