Zac Pajak has just released his four-track Midnight EP, a smart and sparky body of work that puts a fresh sonic spin on what you might expect from your average singer-songwriter. Mind you, Zac Pajak’s hardly your average singer-songwriter.
On Silver Linings he shines new light on the challenges we face in relationships; in About Time, he effortlessly captures the magical moment when your romantic future suddenly becomes crystal clear. Other songs touch on concepts of identity and longing, but however emotionally tough the subject matter there’s always something in Zac’s songs that feels, and sounds, a bit like positivity. And in 2021, that’s just what the doctor ordered. “I’ve wanted to make music that’s a little more feelgood,” he nods, “and a bit more uplifting. When I began adding electronic elements to my production, I realized there was a way to communicate emotion authentically, but still make people want to dance.”
“Music has such an amazing power to make people feel: happy when they’re sad, sad when they’re happy – he adds – Over the years I’ve been through the whole experience of doubting myself and tearing myself up for not being good enough, but I make music because I love it, and I’ll do everything I can to share that with other people.”
