The X Factor favourite Matt Cardle has exclusively told MTV UK that he wants to work with former XF guest judge, Katy Perry.

MTV recruited the help of fellow finalist, Rebecca Ferguson, to ask the 27-year old some questions ahead of last weekend’s semi-final, where Matt revealed he thinks the Teenage Dream singer is “great.”
Speaking of his musical influences, Cardle revealed: “I love Dave Matthews and Rage Against the Machine are one of my favourite bands, but then again I also love Katy Perry and Lady GaGa, so kind of all sorts really. It’s a pretty weird mix.”

When probed by Rebecca who he would love to collaborate with, Matt told MTV: “Katy Perry. She’s great and she writes really great songs and she seems really great, so maybe her.”

Liverpudlian mum-of-one Rebecca then added: “Yeah, I’m a big fan of Katy.”
Despite telling MTV that he would love to duet with Perry, reports have suggested that Christina Aguilera is being lined-up to sing with Matt in the XF final on Saturday.

A source told The Metro: “A duet between Christina and Matt would be a magical moment – just like when Beyoncé dueted with Alexandra Burke during 2008’s final.”

“Matt’s voice is phenomenal and Christina can hit notes no-one has dreamed of. They would be a perfect pairing no matter what song they sang.”
Cardle’s mentor, Dannii Minogue, is also said to be keen to land Xtina for Matt’s duet, in a bid to prevent her fellow judges from securing the singer for their acts.

In regards to her rumoured duet with Matt, an XF spokesperson has since stated: “We’re not confirming any of our guest performers.”
