racingfashionauWith October looming, the racing calendar is starting to come to an end, but there are still a few events up and down the country that are giving us one last excuse to get dressed up. Of course, before you even open your wardrobe, you’d be advised to take a look at where your nearest races are taking part this month.

Whether you’re in Ascot, Newmarket or York, there is plenty of news online with Coral to keep you in the loop and make sure you don’t have to walk too far in those race day heels. Once you’ve got that sorted, here are a few race days looks that are turning heads this season.

The casualSkinny_jeans_BoedapestRace day doesn’t always have to mean ladies’ day and designer labels. If you’re slumming it in the stands or just don’t fancy braving the chillier October weather, you can still looking classy and chic in a pair of skinny jeans teamed with a faux leather jacket.

Add a touch of glamour with some heeled boots (but watch out for that mud!) and sparkle it up with gold bracelets, a diamanté handbag or a subtle gold necklace.

Print is still hugely on trend this autumn, so consider a floral print, 50s-esque dress teamed with bright shoes, such as yellow or white.

Alternatively, try experimenting with colours that you wouldn’t traditionally put together, such as pink and blue. You’ll be amazed with the result.

The metallic

There was once a time where we wouldn’t have dreamed of mixing silver and gold, but now, it’s a trend that we’re embracing for the latter end of 2014. This doesn’t mean having to be too bold – you can have a silver dress, for example, with subtler gold jewellery.

The sparklier the better however, so don’t be afraid to embrace the Strictly Come Dancing spirit.

The dark and dramaticBlack_Rainbow_Hat_WMAlternatively, if you do want to give a nod to the darker weather, you could try and channel Tim Burton with dark, gothic colours. Consider a black jacket over a dress to bring out a dramatic edge, paired with ‘night time’ make up to help you stand out from the crowd.

This is a perfect opportunity for you to use dramatic race day fascinators, so go with it!
