New York based trio Blonde Redhead, teamed up with British fashion label AllSaints, to film this stunning video for their intriguingly haunting new tune ‘Dripping’, lifted from their latest album, ‘Barragán’ (out now via Kobalt Label Services).
The video, features the band – guitarist/vocalist Amedeo Pace, drummer Simone Pace and guitarist/vocalist Kazu Makino – all wearing looks from the AllSaints’ Christmas collection.
First up, can you tell us a bit about your new (stunning) track “Dripping”?
Dripping is a bit of an unusual track for us being so bare and simple. I like the fact that the melody evolves in an interesting way over basically a pretty simple idea. It was a good and easy experience recording it and quite fun I must say.
I am happy about having documented this particular version as it could have gone in so many different ways.
It’s been a challenge playing it live but I think we are starting to get the hang of itCan you tell us 5 things we should know about your album Barragán?
It’s very difficult to say things about it without sounding obvious or pretentious or insecure or clueless or naive. How did the collaboration with British fashion label AllSaints come out?
All Saints just approached us about doing a video for Dripping and we agreed .
How much do you follow fashion trends?
Not very much. but when I do stumble upon a fashion magazine I look at it and sometimes find pleasure in seeing how creative and wild fashion can sometimes be.Tell us a bit about your early days and how they differ from now.
It’s a long story. So much has changed both in us and the world. It has been a very slow and comfortable change but there is a definite difference in how we felt then about some things and how we feel now.
Making music still feels new in a way.
What kind of music do you listen to?
All kinds. I think all 3 of us are open to seeing the good in all types of interpretations. What’s the best and worst thing about been a NY band?
The best thing is that we have a lot of friends in good bands who live here and with whom we share music and ideas
The worst thing is that all those friends come to your show and make us nervous since we do want to play well for them
Tell us about your next show and why we should be there
It’s in Mexico and near the beach.
What do you have planned next?
To tour for this new album.
