The Slow Day release Fire, their latest single following last year’s return. Recorded at Dead Basic Studios in Manchester, Lewis Brookes produced the track, and Pete Maher mastered it.
The Manchester trio draw on Americana, blues and indie rock, with Fire placing acceptance at the centre of their songwriting. Adam explains:
Fire is about finally finding the person who doesn’t ask you to change, but gives you the courage to be completely, unapologetically yourself. It’s about looking back at all the doubt, mistakes and questioning and realising that maybe the person you were trying to escape was worth believing in all along. It’s a love song about acceptance, honesty and finding the one person brave enough to let you burn brighter: Your love – it sets my soul on fire.

The band debuted in 2019 with The Poet, followed by the darker, psychedelic I Can’t Sleep, before stepping away in 2020. Their 2025 return brought a sold-out comeback show at Gullivers in Manchester’s Northern Quarter.
30 and All We Left Behind followed in 2026. With Fire, that renewed run of releases reaches a more personal subject: the freedom to be yourself within a relationship.
