The Overtunes Top 5 Influences Playlist

Indonesian indie-pop brotherly trio The Overtunes share their Top 5 Influences Playlist. Check out their new indie-pop gem called ‘Write Me Another Song’.

They say: “It was a real joy and pleasure to explore the lyrical perspective I tried writing from in this song. We’ve always been the songwriters in our lives, and the effort to take on a different point of view here was a really fun experiment for me, personally. The prolonged recording sessions proved worthwhile in the end too, with the band making the song sound so much better than I first thought it would, and I am really proud of our work. We really took our time working on this song, making sure that we can give our listeners a different experience while listening to our song. And looking back, I am so glad we did. During the production, we divided this song into two parts, the first part, we recorded outdoors, to capture the ambience and somewhat mimic a voice note recording of someone singing in a park, the second part we recorded inside the studio so that we have that transition between spaces that we hope people notice. All in all, it’s great to be in a creative environment again after a while, and we’re excited to deliver this experience and more, to our fans on our 3rd album”.

The Staves

Huge fans of The Staves’ music. Have long been mesmerized by their vocal harmonies, and was very happy to see the new direction they are taking with their newest record. Hope I could see them perform live one day!

Taylor Swift

Taylor has a very distinctive way of writing her lyrics. Really encouraged me to be brave, explorative, and mostly expressive in writing my own as well.

Punch Brothers

Probably the most virtuosic acoustic ensemble on the planet. It’s really inspiring the way this group pushes the limits of the instruments, not for its own sake, but while also writing beautiful music along the way with each record they put out.

Kings of Convenience

The original duo that first “taught” us how to play complimentary guitar parts together. We still use all of their lessons to this very day. Legends.

Sufjan Stevens

Only discovered his music recently, but deeply resonated with the sounds and lyrical themes that he often writes in.
