One year ago, the East London singer and songwriter Teeah caused a stir on the Afrobeats scene with her Afro-Jazz debut single Save Me. Now she is back with her brand new single Zengeh featuring the recently crowned 2019 BET Hip Hop Awards ‘Best International Flow’ winner Sarkodie.
The song is taken from her upcoming debut EP, due for release at the beginning of 2020, produced by her longtime collaborator Delirious. Zengeh gives us new insight on Teeah’s artistry, unveiling a side of her we haven’t yet seen.
The soulful sultry track is highlighted by Teeah’s captivating vocals and sweltering lyrics, while Sarkodie’s consummate feature delivers one of his best guest appearances of the year.
Teeah was born in London of Bajan and Southern African heritage. She started singing when she was ten years old, going on to perform backing vocals for Hugh Masekela, Amy Winehouse, Mel B, Fred Hammond and Misha Paris, among others. She could have been seen performing at Love Box Festival, Royal Festival Hall, Channel 4, and X Factor UK, to mention a few.
She has been active behind-the-scenes in the roles in events and PR, but this year Teeah is ready to share her amazing talent and new music with the world.
About the song Zengeh, Teeah says: “I love ‘love’ and that’s what I try to explore with Zengeh. In its purest form, love is a connection that can be physical yet passionate. The world can sometimes miss the true feeling of love because these days, it’s all rushed rather than enjoyed. Zen-Geh – the word alone is passionate enough, and I want listeners to feel passionate about passion when they are listening to it, in all in cultural expression through sound and rhythm”.
