TAMUAfter the releases of standout gem called ‘Holding Back’, Tamu Massif – the solo recording project of Dave Dixon – is back with ‘OK’, another melodiously relevant and complex pop tune, taken from the inevitable follow up to his stunning 2015’s debut EP ‘Alba’.
The Weston-super-Mare singer/songwriter, wrote ‘OK’ (mixed by Perfume Genius/Youth Lagoon associate Ali Chant) whilst celebrating NYE in Naples, Italy and it was motivated by a deteriorating friendship…“I wrote most of ‘OK’ – says Dave – while visiting friends in Naples for New Year’s Eve last year. I had on my mind a particular situation with a friend I don’t see all that often these days, and it got me thinking about the way relationships change. I guess it’s about coming to terms with that change; when you feel like you’re losing someone close to you.”

On sampling Naples’s NYE’s bangs and explosions of firecrackers (which Dixon recorded from his balcony)…“The city goes crazy for it– it sounds like a warzone. I sampled the sound of the celebrations in the second half of the song- I thought it’d be interesting to contrast those celebrations with something more contemplative and melancholic lyrically.”
