Sylfronia King has just released her infectious new track Heartbreak from her album of the same name, which she hopes to release later this year. King was born in the United States and raised in the Bahamas, returning to the States at the age of twelve, by which point she already had three years of singing under her belt.

Her new album is about the heartbreak she experienced when a new love faltered in the face of her personal health concerns. ‘I would take the train and listen to my music coming home from an event and freestyle the songs.’ says King, ‘All of the songs are impulse inspired based on my vibe’.

The freestyle way in which the artist works will be no surprise to listeners of her new single Heartbreak. In a word, the track is effortless; delivering a bouncy, soul-pop energy that will have you playing it on a loop. There is a fire in King’s delivery. To call on two of King’s musical inspirations, the track gives Donna Summer meets Lizzo energy. It’s an upbeat anthem for the broken-hearted, with one of those choruses that you feel like you’ve known forever. You’ll be singing along after the first listen.

‘Love ain’t for the weak’, was King’s response, when asked for a line that would best encapsulate her upcoming album. This quote perfectly embodies the upfront way the artist deals with a broken heart. The album, recorded in the artist’s living room studio on Manhattan’s upper west side, ‘is a continuation of her work to bring love, peace, healing and enlightenment to the world through music’.

Heartbreak is a track to blast with the car windows down. Listen while getting ready to go out and dance until you forget that certain someone who’s given you the blues.

King brands Heartbreak an ‘80s baby album’, and with the punchy string melodies and soulful vocals in its title track, it’s obvious why.
