Tokyo producer Sweet William drops Beat Theme, a stunning collection of beats and hip-hop mixed with classic Japanese sounds, and gets our QuickFire Questions.
What was the first album you bought?
SCHADARAPARR – The Poten Hits (1994)
Who are some of your biggest musical inspirations and why?
My two older brothers. From a young age, they taught me about various genres of music such as Hip-Hop, funk, jazz and Japanese pop music. My music is influenced by all the music that my brothers taught me. Also the Japanese artist DJ Mitsu The Beats is one of my biggest influences.
What are some non-musical inspirations that motivate your music?
The common scenery in my life and conversations with familiar people.
Tell us about your new album ‘Beat Theme’?
This is my first album where all the songs are instrumental. I hope this album will be loved for a long time.
What have you got lined up the rest of the year (2021)?
I’m hoping to start working on my next project and create a collaboration song with another artist or artists.
