Hailing from Harlem, NY, Sú North has a unique sound that blends together lyricism and slam poetry.

Sú North, previously known as Sharif Hassan returns with another shot of his Alternative hip hop/rap with the new single, Yellow, that functions as a kind of guide about self-love and finding the joy of living.

“The track was created out of the joy self love brings, the joy I have for others I love, and the joy of other people loving me,” he reveals. Yellow is a color associated with the sun. It symbolises optimism, energy, joy, happiness and friendship.”

Yellow mixes unique and powerful lyrics and different sounds, like lo-fi rap, indie rap, modern hip-hop and chillwave to create a introspective and charismatic sound.

The music is high-energy and chill, with a simple piano melody, a heavy bass line, groovy drums and even some trumpet in the mix. The chorus is inspired by Coldplay‘s song of the same name – “And it was all yellow”.

Sú North, who directed and edited the stunning visuals, and Marcel Scott of Summit Sessions as producer/DP, captured footage in the Bay Area for the music video.

If you want an idea of how Yellow sounds, there is no better visual representation than Sú North taking a slow jump over the beach sand with his trumpet player and blooming flowers.
