A country-pop pioneer, Welsh artist Eleri Angharad has perfected the blend of both in her mesmerizingly catchy new release Delete It.
Following on from the success of her previous offering Blank Walls, which has amassed over 200,000 streams on Spotify alone, Eleri has digged deep into her own personal experiences to inspire the narrative for this single, penning a poignant piece about the inability to say how you truly feel. Opening with a broody rhythm that is conjured up through richly textured piano and dramatic pauses, the melody seamlessly switches to a powerful, pulsating beat that is carried by Eleri’s encapsulating vocal ability. Shimmering and striking, the Swansea singer-songwriter bounces between the two with ease, exhibiting her strong expertise as a performer.
“Delete It is one of my most personal tracks to date”, Eleri confesses, “It describes a moment where I wanted to express my emotions but not damage a friendship. It’s about weighing up the pros and cons of sending I Love You; will I hear back the same message and feel incredible or not get the answer I want and deal with rejection and potential loss? The song represents a pivotal point in my personal life.”
After becoming exposed to the storytelling within country music after a trip to North America as a teen, Eleri became inspired by the likes of Taylor Swift, Kacey Musgraves and James Taylor to adopt a similar style for herself, yet with a unique twist. Having achieved radio play from the likes of BBC 6 Music, BBC Radio Wales Introducing and Country Hits Radio for ‘Blank Walls’ and its predecessor ‘New Sin’, she is rapidly becoming one of the industry’s most exciting newcomers.
One to keep an eye on this year, Delete It is destined to be a great success for the captivating young artist.
