South African artist Thando Skwatsha drops new album ‘iimini nentsuku’

Thando Skwatsha is an up-and-coming artist and musician from Gugulethu, Cape Town. He has a real passion for the performing arts that shines through his work. Thando is an outstanding musician who knows how to mix modern South African sounds with his heartfelt, motivational songs and strong vocals, as well as his amazing stage appearance.

Kicking off his stunning 12-track album called iimini nentsuku is the heartfelt single isaziso. Thando Skwatsha looks back and reflects on how his journey from being a kid to an adult has changed the dynamics of his relationship with his parents, the song ibali is all about a love that was not accepted by society.

Thandolwami is a beautiful song on the album, taking us back to a past love. Then comes Andazi, where Zakhona talks about his journey in life and finding his own path. – On all night, Thando delves into a concept of hope and having confidence in yourself that he explores throughout the album.

Thando explains: “In these songs, I openly discuss my childhood, my hopes and dreams, and my relationships, among other themes. I wrote this album with the intention of leaving people feeling hopeful, of having experienced something new and different from what they may have heard from me previously. Writing in the vernacular has allowed me to delve deeper into who I am while also allowing people to relate to me. “I hope to leave people feeling hopeful and inspired.”

The album, ‘iimini nentsuku’, which is out now via emPawa Africa, was written by Thando Skwatsha, produced by Milan Rendall, mixed by award-winning producer Keron Sheriff Thomspon (Major Lazer, Wyclef Jean), and Christian Wright, who’s worked with amazing artists like Ed Sheeran, Radiohead, and Laura Marling, put the final touches on this track at Abbey Road Studios – legendary music recording studio.
