“I dedicated my 6th full-length album ‘Wa-Kei-Sei-Jyaku’ to Ryuichi Sakamoto whose music was an essential part of my life” says intriguing artist/composer Sienná, born in Kyoto and based in Oslo.

The artist behind Wa-Kei-Sei-Jyaku is thinking ahead of the times and asserting her spot in the underground electronica scene with her outlandishly creative work.

Sienná‘s special ‘east-meets-west’ concept and experimental soundscape, that’s definitely something a bit off the beaten path from typical pop culture, mixing things up with unusual rhythms, blending unique harmonies, and creating something everybody hasn’t heard before with eccentric and fun sounds – that’s how you can bring some fresh surprises!

We discussed her new exciting album containing tracks that display her unique cinematic-electronic style.

Juxtaposition is probably my style. I’m somewhere in between A and B, or sometimes on on the X and y-axis.

What do you want people to take away from listening to your music?

Music has helped me to heal and motivated me to go on. I cannot think so highly of my music, but I will be happy if my music can evoke some memories, or bring back some of special moments of the listeners’ lives that they have forgotten.

What can we expect from you next?

I’m not sure! There’re a few potential plans and ongoing discussions, but still under development right now. My main focus is songwriting and producing, so I’m hoping to catch some inspirations somewhere in the air, and start moving on towards the next chapter or new concept.

Which artists are you listening to right now?

I’m listening randomly. Now switched from Bruno Mars to Rage Against The Machine.

How would you describe your personal style?

Juxtaposition is probably my style. I’m somewhere in between A and B, or sometimes on on the X and y-axis.

What has your musical journey been like so far?

It has been like climbing a mountain. Terrain can be complex, elevation changes, and weather can be tough sometimes. But it enriches my life, teaches me how to balance and reflect, also maintain a sense of calm in difficult situations. Yet I cannot see the summit. So I think I will try to keep ascending on my musical journey.
