Shallipopi returns with Wayward, a three-track EP led by .com. Following Auracle, the Nigerian artist’s latest release focuses on a compact set of tracks that develop the melodic and rhythmic approach behind his Pluto sound.
On .com, hypnotic melodies and sharp lyricism meet a distinctive flute element, adding a fresh texture to his production palette. The track sits alongside UP (TRANSOVANIA) and OGO, with the EP retaining the connection to Benin City’s energy and culture that runs through his work.
Wayward follows an expansive run of collaborations on Auracle, which featured Wizkid, Burna Boy, Gunna, Swae Lee, Pa Salieu, Young Jonn and Rauw Alejandro. His prominent records include Laho, Like That featuring Wizkid, and Him featuring Gunna. According to figures supplied with the release, Shallipopi amassed more than 440 million streams over the past year.
Since his breakthrough with Elon Musk, Shallipopi has taken that sound from Benin City to international stages, including a headline show at London’s Electric Brixton. Cast, featuring Odumodublack, further widened his audience, alongside the reach of the Laho series.
With just three tracks, Wayward offers a concentrated follow-up to Auracle, with the flute-led detail of .com providing its clearest new sonic direction.
