In a landmark collaboration, Grammy-winning rock icon Lenny Kravitz will executive produce the upcoming album from Seun Kuti & Egypt 80, set for release on October 4, 2024. As Kravitz steps into the studio, he’s accompanied by none other than Sodi Marciszewer, the sonic architect responsible for Fela Kuti’s most iconic records. With the independent spirit of Record Kicks and the far-reaching influence of Secretly Distribution, this latest album sets out to shake things up by combining the new with the traditional, reinventing the classic Afrobeat sound.

Seun Kuti, the youngest son of Afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti, has led Egypt 80 since 1997, preserving and extending his father’s musical and political legacy. In his discography, you’ll find four full-length albums, as well as joint projects with musical heavyweights like Carlos Santana, Black Thought, Janelle Monae, Talib Kweli, and Madlib.

Seun is brimming with thanks for Kravitz, wholly won over by his unwavering support and rock-solid reliability. Authenticity radiates from Marciszewer’s fresh collaboration, the new album speaking to both seasoned Afrobeat enthusiasts and those just discovering the genre.

As a pan-African activist, Seun has been involved in campaigns like #EndSARS and has revived the Movement of the People (M.O.P.), a political party his father founded.

With Kravitz on board, Seun Kuti is poised to unleash an album that’s both a loving tribute to Afrobeat’s heritage and a bold venture into uncharted territory. The countdown begins as enthusiasts eagerly mark their calendars for October 4th, the day it all goes live.

Seun Kuti and Egypt 80 embark on a 17-city North American Tour beginning June 8. Tickets for the tour are available for purchase through
