Can you tell us something about your new single ‘Stuck’?

Stuck is a song which literally says it all in the title, it’s about being stuck in love, stuck on someones love, to the point where you couldn’t imagine not being in love with that person. It’s soulful and chilled and reminds me of songs that I used to listen to when I was in my early teens, thats what I wanted to create.scarletbaxter1Tell us 5 things we should know about Scarlet Baxter

My hair never stays the same colour for longer than a month
I’m obsessed with Marilyn Monroe, my bedroom is literally a shrine
I love vintage clothes and charity shops
I love any excuse for a party
And wherever I am if there is an opportunity to jam I will!

How did you start and when?

Well, I started singing literally when I was about 2, running round the house singing all the time my mum said, I knew I always wanted to be a performer. I actually trained in musical theatre first and was accepted into Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts when I was 18 to do a degree in Musical Theatre which I graduated from in 2012., But my passion really was in creating my own music, being the performer I wanted to be and letting rip on stage whenever I could, musical theatre never really lets you do that as you’re always being a character, I didn’t want that, so I went down this route instead, where I really want to be.Scarlet Baxter3What kind of music do you listen to?

I listen to literally all sorts of music, I like something from every genre of music, but I really love the 90’s R&B, I miss that music I listened to when I was growing up, The Fuguees, Lauryn Hill, Brandy, En Vogue, SWV, Ginuwine, I could literally go on all day!
I also really love reggae I am a massive Bob Marley fan.

What was the last gig you played, what did you think of it?

The last gig I played was at a venue called The Blueberry Bar, It was a new night starting so the guy Iain that runs it wanted us to be the featured act, I love doing gigs for him because he has the best sound, sometimes when you go around to small venues you never know what sort of sound you’re going to get out of the system you go through if you don’t get a soundcheck, but with Iain, you can always rely on him to make you sound banging!

Is it hard being a new artist in today’s industry?

It is hard, and it always be, It is never going to be easy, its a very very tough industry to get into, but I am not going to stop until I am in there! There are so many new artists breaking into the industry all the time so it is possible if you put the work in and you’re dedicated.

Who would you most like to collaborate within the industry?

Oh wow, thats a hard question because I want to collaborate with SO many artists.
hmmm, If I am going for a production side then id love to collaborate with Chris Brown, his music is great, he is so creative, Beyonce as well imagine being on a track with her! I couldn’t name just one person, I would love to create with nearly everyone in the industry because everyone is so different.

What’s coming next for you?

New music! This January there is going to be another release, I can’t wait to work with the amazing producers at Boombox Studios again so we are going to get some killer tunes! And of course my favourite part of the music is gigging so a lot more gigs coming up and hopefully next summer you’ll see me at some festivals, and literally not stopping until I am where I want to be! 🙂
