Sam Anson introduces his latest endeavor to the music world with Pieces, a compelling double single release that marks the start of an exciting new chapter in 2024. This duo of tracks, featuring Heart Of Mine and Control My Life, showcases Anson’s innovative approach to drum and bass, blending traditional jungle rhythms with experimental, liquid DnB elements.

Heart Of Mine distinguishes itself with a rich jungle-style instrumentation, harmoniously integrating male and female vocal choruses that resonate in perfect, melodic unity. Meanwhile, Control My Life ventures into the experimental territory of liquid drum and bass, employing synthesized vocals to guide listeners on an expansive sonic journey. This release is not just music; it’s an invitation to explore the depths of sound and emotion.

Sam Anson, currently honing his craft in music production at Leeds Beckett University, draws immense inspiration from his university life and the vibrant UK dance, electronic, and DnB scene. His journey is a testament to the power of passion and creativity, crafting Pieces as a remarkable solo project right from his bedroom. Utilizing just a laptop and Logic Pro, Anson’s month-long songwriting and producing endeavor culminates in a release that leaves his growing fanbase eagerly awaiting his future projects.

Born in Gloucester in 2003 and raised amidst the musical backdrop of the Cotswolds, Anson’s musical voyage started with a guitar and early forays into music production software like GarageBand. It was during his GCSEs in 2018 that his dedication to music took a decisive turn, further nurtured by a significant gift from his parents: Logic Pro X, which became his primary digital audio workstation (DAW). From dance and house to exploring the realms of drum and bass and orchestral compositions, Anson’s musical evolution has been marked by relentless experimentation and self-driven learning.

The lockdown period served as a crucible for Anson’s creativity, pushing him to delve deeper into a variety of genres and begin sharing his music on major digital platforms. His work shines with a desire to reach wider audiences, seamlessly blending drum and bass with orchestral styles, inspired by the burgeoning opportunities in the music sync industry.

Anson’s creative ethos is a reflection of his personality: spontaneous, unpredictable, yet deeply committed to his art. He aims for his music and public persona to convey a sense of relaxation and sarcasm, mirroring the essence of his creative spirit. As he continues to explore and produce across a spectrum of musical styles—from alternative indie and cinematic scores to children’s TV themes—Anson remains focused on forging a unique path in the industry, all while keeping a genuine and laid-back connection with his listeners.

Influenced by the likes of Fred Again, BICEP, Hybrid Minds, and Chase & Status, Sam Anson is not just following in the footsteps of drum and bass luminaries; he’s carving out his own legacy. As 2024 unfolds, Anson invites us to join him on this exhilarating musical journey, promising more groundbreaking releases that blend passion, innovation, and the unmistakable rhythm of drum and bass.
