Looking for something cool to do in London this weekend?
For some really unique Christmas shopping you could do worse than checking out the wares of some of the best eco and conscious small design brands from central Europe. Fame recommends the “reTHINK Hungary and the V4” one day design festival for a November afternoon well spent. This is a chance to catch WAMP, the most popular design market in Hungary will presenting 30 of its designers and their wares to downtown London.
Where and when?
18th of November 11 am – 7 pm, at Black Swans Studios, just off Bermondsey Street, London SE1 3XW.
The theme of the (free entry) event will be recycling and conscious living. This eco theme will be carried throughout the design fair, fashion shows, panel discussion, workshops and even Hungarian food! Visitors can also sample fine wines of the world-famous Tokaj region and the Hungarian cuisine at the wine and food tasting of the event. Did someone say wine? Count us in!
The WAMP fair has been running since 2006, with an aim to promote the rising talents including makers such as fashion designers, jewellers, leather artists, graphic and home decor designers.
The reTHINK festival is organised in collaboration with the Hungarian Cultural Centre London. The day promises to be packed with programs throughout the day for both the Hungarian London community and the international audience. Visitors will be able to view a fashion show featuring Hungarian designers Fanni Varga – byVarga and FANNY NAGY and will be able to take part in a jewellery workshop led by the artists behind the Hungarian Kinetech design studio.
There will also be a panel discussion with representatives of Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary, on the distinctive features of the design scene of this European region and its potential in the global market.
