R&B/Rap Newcomer CHI Impresses With New Single DEMONS

“Demons was one of the many songs I made during a trip I took to make new music. After a few long nights of partying and making music, I was feeling very empty and thinking about how my life used to be, comparing and contrasting it to now and contemplating if the things that I’d always wanted were worth the price I would have to pay. That’s what inspired me to make this song.”

Vancouver-based newcomer Chi has returned with his brand-new single, Demons. The catchy track follows previous release Gemini and makes a huge impression on first listen. Only 20 years old and still at the start of his musical journey, Chi’s breakthrough could be imminent if this new release is anything to go by.

Switching up his flow and cadence throughout the track, Demons showcases Chi’s ability as both a rapper and a singer, and being able to tread the line between hip-hop and R&B will be a huge advantage for the rising artist as he progresses in his career. The track also highlights Chi’s lyrical depth. On first listen, it may appear as just another track about partying but there is an underlying story of overcoming that’s present, which makes Demons such a compelling listen. For instance, lyrics like “Sometimes I think about the past / Cold nights with frozen hands” refer to a time when Chi was homeless. It’s clear there’s much more beneath the surface with Chi, which makes him all the more intriguing.

Speaking on how the track came about, Chi says, Demons was one of the many songs I made during a trip I took to make new music. After a few long nights of partying and making music, I was feeling very empty and thinking about how my life used to be, comparing and contrasting it to now and contemplating if the things that I’d always wanted were worth the price I would have to pay. That’s what inspired me to make this song.”

With such polished and refined music so early on in his career, Chi is clearly one to watch. Demons should provide the necessary springboard he needs for even bigger things to come, and we can’t wait to hear what he delivers next. In the meantime, Demons is out now to buy/stream on all platforms.
