Norwegian music producers Rat City and Isak Heim are collaborating once more on the track Rather Be. Working towards the completion of their debut album at the end of the year, the partnership has already forged a strong craft for making catchy pop tracks.

With Isak himself providing the commanding vocal performance on top of the fast-paced electronic beats, Rather Be is the follow up to the pairing’s first joint single, Kind of Love. With that first effort reaching over 35 million streams on Spotify, this new upbeat summer club hit looks to continue their success, with an instrumental that fits in perfectly among the festival crowd.

Written last summer, this latest song looks to wash away the feelings from the pandemic, replacing them with the sunshine filled hyper-pop attitude of 2021. To bring the track to life, the Scandinavian producers worked alongside renowned songwriters Faouzia and Autumn Rowe over Zoom, the group’s first time doing so, in order to create a song that is swift and powerful in its lyrics, singing about the suffocation of a particular relationship.

Becoming a necessity for musicians over the last few months, Rat City describes the situation as “unique, and surprisingly a lot of fun” when it comes to the production process and the new challenges that ensured. Building the anticipation for their debut album, Rather Be shows the talent of the Norwegian producers as they work towards even bigger things.
