"Fear is about the two sides within me and all of us – the timid side we grew up with scared of irrational fears but also the rage we embrace through the struggle to fuel us and in turn becoming what we were afraid of.”

After making his entrance earlier this year with addictive tracks such as Sorbet and Let Go, Bao Chow has returned with his latest single, Fear. The Australia-based rapper, singer-songwriter, and producer may be new to the scene, but this latest release proves he’s here to stay, with its powerful message about embracing and overcoming fear sure to be relatable to a wide audience.

Born in Malaysia and raised in Perth, Australia, Bao Chow has a background in classical and jazz music and plays piano, violin, and saxophone, and it’s clear when listening to his music just how gifted he is as a musician, despite now making music within a different genre to what he started. As a rapper, his variation in flow and lyrical prowess is noticeable straight away, with Fear’s opening verse delivered in a dark, whispery tone and then culminating with an energized, hard-hitting hook – enhanced with guitar, drums, and powerful 808s. It’s a track that commands attention from the start and leaves a lasting impression.

Speaking more on the new release, Bao Chow says: “Fear is about the two sides within me and all of us – the timid side we grew up with scared of irrational fears but also the rage we embrace through the struggle to fuel us and in turn becoming what we were afraid of.”

If it wasn’t already clear from his previous releases earlier this year, Fear lets the world know that Bao Chow is one to watch out for. With the artistry and musicianship to do whatever he desires musically, it’ll be interesting to see how his sound and style evolve with future releases. And with more new music expected soon, it shouldn’t be too long before we find out. In the meantime, Fear is out now to buy/stream on all platforms.
