French electronic duo il:lo (producers Dejan Dejado and Andreas Schültz) share their lush deep house tune ‘Soldiner’ and answer our QFQs.

What was the first album you bought?

Dejan: Robert Miles – Children in 1996 so i guess i was less than ten years old. I did not know that i was listening to trance / dream-house music but i was already immersed in electronic music. I can remember the sound of the piano and guitar. The guy is dead in 2017, RIP.

Andreas: The first one I’ve received must be something not great like from a Boys/Girlsband like Spice Girls but the first that I bought was You’ve Come a Long Way, Baby – Fatboy Slim (1998) I was crazy about this album! It was for me very mysterious I had no idea how it was possible to make something like that. with all the samples etc.

Who are some of your biggest musical inspirations and why?

Both: Bonobo Andreas: He is one of the few artists who has managed to develop his style while remaining simple, sincere, and touching

Dejan: The only artist I can’t wait to listen to new releases. Almost everything he’s done is genius.

What are some non-musical inspirations that motivate your music?

Andreas: Taking the train and watching the passing landscape

Dejan: When I let my thoughts go and imagine people dancing to our music, even smooth moves alone at home

Tell us about your single ‘Soldiner’?

Our new single Soldiner stands out from previous releases and marks the beginning of a new era, a musical production resolutely turned towards deep house which is more on electronic elements. We wanted to grab the listener with powerful leads and soulful arpeggiators. This track is an emotional journey with a joyful start, intense body, and final resolution.

What have you got lined up for 2022?

Lots of new singles and remixes. A tour with Blockhead 1 Arms and Sleepers in Central Europe in May / A tour with CloZee in Europe in October and hopefully a tour in the #2
