Effervescent Aussie duo, President Street, have only gone and done it again…dropped an almighty banger, Heartbreak Player, that plays to all their strengths, namely anti-genre fusion pop with deep and sexy beats all over the shop. Otherwise known as ‘whatever comes into their heads. It’s a winning formula that has seen them gain major popularity in their home county and a burgeoning following here in Blighty.
Making waves comes naturally to Melbourne natives, Ruby and Pete, who originally got together after the latter placed a personal ad. Steady, not that kind. It was via a creative platform. Ruby stood out for all the right reasons, a beautiful thing was born and the rest, as they say, is an acoustic tour of the UK, a supporting slot on Roachford’s upcoming tour, a top-five hit in their native Oz, and two nifty top-fives in the Dance Chart in this neck of the woods.
“We don’t try to write to genre – says Pete of their unique style of music-making – We just write to the emotion we’re trying to bring out and we work back from that. It’s an organic thing.”
Little wonder President Street are riding high on ‘Ones To Watch 2021’ lists, and so say all of us.
