FM Premiere: EMMA & JOLIE’s ALL THAT GLITTERS

A battle with toxic relationships

By Frank Bell

Pop-country duo Emma & Jolie take an honest look at toxic relationships with their new single All That Glitters. Inspired by their own personal experiences, their lyrics encapsulate the internal conflict that so many of us have felt while in an unhealthy but addictive relationship that we just can’t help going back to. All That Glitters sees an upbeat turn for Emma & Jolie’s sound with its modern country-pop production chanelling hints of Taylor Swift and Kacey Musgraves crossed with more pop-focused hints of Ariana Grande or Dua Lipa.

When they first met at music college in 2015, Emma & Jolie became instant best friends. They bonded over their shared love for Taylor Swift and have been inseparable ever since. As soon as they started writing songs and recording covers together for fun, it became apparent that they captured something very special as a duo and that was just the start of their musical journey together.

Talking about the single they revealed, “We originally came up with the idea “All That Glitters isn’t Gold” meaning sometimes, even though somebody can seem amazing, shiny, wonderful…they really aren’t! They are just fools gold! We wrote the song in lockdown with Adam Fitzgerald and as soon as we finished writing we knew this was going to be our next single and have been so excited to release it ever since.”
