Pinc Louds are not just back—they’re busting out of every box you tried to put them in. The NYC-based avant-indie misfits just dropped Sequins (Do the Twenty Two), a full-throttle folk-punk meltdown wrapped in glitter, guts, and post-breakdown rebirth. It’s the latest single from their upcoming album You Can’t Eat the Moon and Be a Werewolf Too, landing August 15 via Needlejuice Records—and yeah, it’s as unhinged and beautiful as that title promises.
Built on breakneck strums, acid-washed vocals, and the wild-eyed freedom of a fresh start, Sequins is frontperson Claudi’s sonic scream toward joy. They explain:
It’s about the feeling of breaking free, going fast and moving away from your past…I was trying to find a new energy in myself. It’s a song about the magic of a new beginning and trying to find joy.
The video? A fluorescent fever dream. Picture punk show meets puppet parade meets homemade mythology. Think early Pixies having a DMT trip in a Brooklyn alley—directed by a kid hopped up on cotton candy and existential dread.
Produced by Strokes legend Gordon Raphael, the track captures the band’s knack for conjuring mayhem that somehow hits you in the heart. And this isn’t a one-off: the full album promises more madcap catharsis, born from Claudi’s real-life unraveling, a year-long pause from music, and a decision to come back louder, rawer, and more real than ever.
Busking royalty turned cult heroes, Pinc Louds have gone from Tompkins Square Park legends to full-on art-rock prophets. Influenced by everyone from Billie Holiday to Animal Collective to Cortijo y Su Combo, their sound doesn’t ask for your attention—it grabs it by the collar and sings you a lullaby during an earthquake.
And now? They’re throwing glitter at grief. Sequins at sadness. A party in the psych ward. A punk hymn for anyone who’s ever been cracked wide open and decided to dance anyway.
Watch Sequins (Do the 22) now. Then catch your breath. You’ll need it for August.
