[PIAS] Relaunches Source Label With Four New Artist Signings FM PRO TECH NEWS

[PIAS] has relaunched Source, reviving the label associated with Air, Phoenix and Kings of Convenience through a new cross-border A&R structure led jointly by its UK and French teams.

The strategy combines local artist-development networks in both markets with [PIAS]’s wider international infrastructure. Rather than simply trading on Source’s history, the company intends to use the label to discover new artists and build sustainable careers across multiple territories.

Source emerged around the turn of the millennium as a home for forward-thinking releases from artists including Air, Phoenix, Kings of Convenience, Turin Brakes and Simian. [PIAS] represents parts of that original catalogue, creating a direct connection between the label’s legacy and its new phase.

Operating under the banner “We Grow Loud,” the revived label will focus on creative freedom, individual identity and long-term development.

Source has a fantastic history, but this isn’t about trying to recreate the past. It’s about taking the spirit that made the label special—discovering distinctive artists, trusting their vision and giving them the time and support to develop—and applying that to a new generation. – [PIAS] co-founder and executive chairman Kenny Gates

The first four signings establish a deliberately varied roster:

  • IFULKI connects Gnawa traditions with electronic production and live instrumentation.
  • Disgusting Sisters, formed by sisters Jules and Josie, combine electro, pop and rock across London and Paris.
  • Epal brings together synth textures, piano, trap influences and ethereal arrangements.
  • HINA approaches alternative pop through unconventional structures, bold production and an anti-heroine identity.

Gates said that combining the French and UK teams gives [PIAS] another route for breaking developing artists internationally, with the opening roster indicating the breadth planned for Source.

The relaunch reflects a wider industry push to connect locally informed A&R with global distribution and audience development. Source already has a recognisable name; the real test will be whether [PIAS] can turn that heritage into meaningful long-term support for its new artists.
